More reliable IT, without unnecessary infrastructure.

Cloud is not the goal. The goal is that important applications and data run reliably, can be restored, and do not cost more than they need to.

Cloud is not automatically better

An office server that is documented, backed up and understood can be a perfectly reasonable setup. A complex cloud that nobody in the company understands often just relocates the risk.

When a migration makes sense

  • Hardware is ageing and an outage would stop the business
  • The application runs on a machine few people can reach
  • Backups do not exist, or have never been restored
  • The company has grown and a single point of failure is too big a risk
  • You need remote access without improvised workarounds

When there is no need to rush

  • The current setup is stable, inexpensive and understood
  • The application cannot reasonably be moved without an expensive rewrite
  • Cloud would raise cost without improving reliability
  • Nobody in the company would be able to operate the new environment

How we can help

  • Moving applications off an on-site server
  • Cloud design on AWS — and Azure where that is the better fit
  • Backups and disaster recovery, including a restore test
  • Monitoring, basic security and a map of dependencies
  • Infrastructure reviews and cost optimisation
  • Documentation so the environment still makes sense without us
